PRP is made from a sample of your own blood. Approximately 50mls (tenth of a pint) is drawn from your arm veins. This sample is spun in a centrifuge and the yellow ‘buffy’ coat layer is extracted. This contains all the platelets.
Platelets contain Growth Factors which encourage healing.
PRP injections are safe, have few side-effects and have good evidence of effectiveness.
The are now recognised by most major private medical insurers.
